Which is English?

A robot has hidden English messages in some of the following audio clips. Can you help us figure out which clips contain the robot's messages? We know that half of the messages have hidden English and half of them don't; we want your help figuring out which ones are English and which are not.

On each trial, you will listen to two short audio clips. After you play both clips, you will be asked which of the two clips contains some hidden English words. This task will not be easy; if you are unsure, take your best guess.

NOTE: A few times in the experiment, instead of hearing some sounds from the robot, you will instead hear a simple beep or tone. Whenever that happens, make sure to click 'Right'. Aside from these special trials, one of the two clips will always contain hidden English words.

When you are ready to begin, answer the question below. By completing this survey, you are consenting to be in this research study. Your participation is voluntary and you can stop at any time.

(NOTE: When the experiment is done, a submit button should appear. If that fails to occur, the HIT should "auto-submit" after one minute.)

Progress

The robot produced these clips:

If you had to guess, which clip contains English language?
(Remember: If you only hear beeps, click "Right")

To complete this experiment your computer needs working audio. To test your the sound on your computer, please listen to the clip below.

Oh no! You did not answer the first question correctly, and so we cannot let you continue with the HIT.
Done! You can go ahead and submit the HIT. Thank you!

You can also feel free to leave any comments below about how the experiment went, but that's up to you. Did everything seem to work OK?
