What do you think?

Welcome to this survey! Here, we would like to know your intuition about the results from a previous experiment that we conducted.

Click "Start" to learn what our memory experiment looked like. And at the end we'll ask you to answer a question based on your intuitions about the experiment.

(NOTE: This is a 'demo' version of the study for the benefit of readers, and does not collect any data; feel free to explore it!)

Start

We recently ran an experiment about the relationship between visual information and memory. We showed people some shapes on a screen, and asked them to remember these shapes.

Below are some examples of the shapes we asked people to recall after they disappeared:

OK, next!

On each trial of our experiment, people saw a shape on a computer monitor and re-created it after it disappeared, by using a slider.

Play the video below to see what the experiment looked like.

OK, I understand. Next.

In this experiment, we wanted to know whether people misremember objects as being more simple than they really are, or more complex than they really are.

Now, we have a question for you!

What do you think happened in our experiment?

Do you think people selected a simpler shape, or a more complex one? In other words, do you think people tend to misremember the world as more simple than it really is, or more complex than it really is?

Done!

Feel free to leave any comments below about how the experiment went, but that's up to you. Did everything seem to work OK?

Done! You have finished this task. Thank you for your participation!
